Catchment to Coast’s Situation Room, has been shortlisted for an LGC Award 2026 in the Community Involvement category.
The LGC Awards – run by the Local Government Chronicle – are among the UK’s best-known awards for councils and public services, recognising innovation and impact across local government. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on Wednesday 10 June 2026.
The shortlisting recognises how the Situation Room increased trust in the project, helping residents to explore how Southend could adapt to climate change. It also tested new ways for local authorities to involve communities in complex decisions.
The work brought in people who do not usually take part in council consultations, and findings showed improved trust and strong participant satisfaction. The Situation Room also helped strengthen the case for investment in local infrastructure by surfacing residents’ priorities and lived experiences.
