To help tackle the disruption to local road users and visitors caused by high tides making Princess Margaret Road impassable and improve understanding of flood risk, visual flood warning beacons will be installed. This will be tied to local data gathering equipment and be promoted on social media and other platforms.
We want to co-design flood warning beacons with local residents to alert people about flooding.
Various monitoring equipment will be deployed to act as a trigger for the warning beacons. This will include monitoring water depth, wind, wave and even suspended sediment.
